STANLEY “STAN” MICKUS

Stan Mickus brings years of real estate investment experience to his position at Century 21 Shutters & Sails as a REALTOR. This experience extends to both the long term and short term rental business as a property owner and manager.

Stan is a native to Connecticut, born in New London on January 11, 1968 and having grown up in nearby Salem. He attended Salem Elementary School and East Lyme High School and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration - Finance in 1990 from Providence College.

He now resides in Mystic with his two children Mary Jane and Eli who attend school in Stonington. He has been a Mystic Little League manager and coach for the past five seasons and has lent his assistance as a flag football coach in the Stonington Recreational leagues.

Stan is also the director of government and public affairs for Cross Sound Ferry Services in New London, where he oversees the daily public and governmental affairs for the Wronowski Marine businesses including Thames Shipyard & Repair Company. He is the primary spokesman for the companies. Stan spearheads the various community relations initiatives undertaken by the companies in Connecticut, New York and Rhode Island. He has co-published a paper titled LINKING FAST FERRIES INTO THE PUBLIC TRANSPORT NETWORK OF THE NORTHEAST UNITED STATES, which appeared in national and international trade publications and featured at the Fast Ferry International Conference. An avid runner, he has completed 16 marathons including the New York City Marathon and Boston Marathon each seven times.

Stan sits on various boards of directors and commissions promoting regional economic development and tourism in Connecticut and Long Island including the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut, Inc. as a past Board chair, the Connecticut Maritime Commission, the Connecticut Port Authority Working Group, the Greater Mystic Visitors Bureau, and the Connecticut Cruise Ship Task Force. He is the past Vice Chairman of the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau, former board member of New London Main Street, New London City Center District, OpSail 2012 CT and former Corporator at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London.

In 2015, he was appointed by then Connecticut Governor Dan Malloy to serve on the Governor’s Transportation Finance Panel, an 11-member group charged with examining funding options and

developing recommendations that supported Governor Malloy’s 30-year, $100 billion plan to modernize Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure.

Most recently, Stan has been appointed by the Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives, Matt Ritter, to be a member and co-chair of a 15-member task force to study the shortage of employees in various tourism-related businesses in the State of Connecticut.
